Verifying the broker
Look the broker up on Companies House and, where they need it, the FCA register. A genuine broker discloses their commission or fee in writing before you commit, and does not promise a specific lender will approve you.
Warning signs
Be cautious of unsolicited approaches, guarantees of approval, pressure to decide now, and demands to pay before any offer exists. You can also apply directly to lenders — for Credit Corp that is clients.credicorp.co.uk, with no broker in the middle.
What it means for you
Credit Corp lends to your company, not to you personally, and takes no personal guarantee. You can bypass brokers entirely and apply to Credit Corp directly. See business loans or apply online.
Frequently asked questions
Should a broker charge me before finding a loan?
Be cautious. Legitimate brokers disclose fees upfront and typically earn from the lender. Demands to pay before any offer exists are a warning sign.
Can I skip the broker?
Yes. You can apply directly to lenders, including Credit Corp, without using a broker at all.
